Group Courses & Seminars
1. I will either assign books or email works to students.
2. Each week, on Monday, I send out instructions for the week's work, including readings and written assignments.
3. All work is due one week from the date of assignment, unless other arrangements are made. I'm pretty flexible.
4. I'll write my comments, both positive and corrective. within the text, using the track changes function, and return work within a week of receipt, accompanied by a thorough response in the form of a letter. I might then suggest exercises based upon any perceived need(s).
5. I will hold a weekly, live, online discussion. Attendance to discussions is optional. These discussions are a good way for students to make contact with their peers and to get immediate feedback.
6. There will also be other opportunities for peer revision and collaboration.
Customized Courses
1. I send an introduction to the concept (say, some materials on a narrative essay) along with clear instructions on how to write such essay. I might include some works written in this form/style as models.
2. Your child has 1-2 weeks (or longer, by agreement) to complete the assigned work.
3. He or she sends me his/her typed piece.
4. Within one week of receipt, I write my comments within the text using the track changes function, both positive and corrective, and then a more general response in the form of a letter. I might then suggest exercises based upon a perceived need.
5. I send out the next packet (see #1)
I am completely open to adapting both the method and content if students and their parents would like another approach.
